Ladies Luncheon
Last week we had our first installment of our Industry Ladies Luncheon. We work with so many amazing ladies and we thought we would show our appreciation for them by hosting a luncheon in their honor. We haven't had a chance to get to everyone yet, so stay tuned! We transformed our studio using our own draping, lighting, accent furniture pieces and of course floral! Puff n' Stuff created a fantastic four course menu for this special occasion.
Our inspiration for the design was the ending of a year and the beginning of a new.
Here are some great detail shots taken by the amazing Ryan Joseph. Enjoy!

Pavillion XXV
Here are some pictures from Pavillion XXV at Tampa's Museum of Art this past weekend. The event was designed with each table in a monochromatic theme with all the centerpieces and glassware coordinating with the table color. We used mirror containers as they reflected the linens beautifully and helped create a cohesive look for the table.
Pavillion is an event that benefits the Tampa Museum of Art and we were thrilled to be a part of such a spectacular event, producing this event in partner with the event's Chairs.

Sneak Peek!
Here is a sneak peek from our wedding last weekend at the Powell Crosley Estate in Sarasota. The wedding had a romantic, yet organic look. For the table decor we used a moss and twig runner accented with candlesticks, urns, stone spheres, artichokes, mercury glass etched lanterns and flowers in shades of eggplant, ivories, and greens. Check out these couple shots and the video trailer from this beautiful wedding. We cannot wait to see the rest! Enjoy!

Hiring Professionally Trained Wedding Vendors
The most important thing to consider when selecting your wedding day team of vendors is that your wedding vendors are professionally trained in the services that they are providing. Regardless of whether it's attending a University, conference or private classes having a professionally trained vendor means that they are passionate about their craft and committed to excellence. It isn't a hobby that they have just decided to pick up, it means they are focused on their service or product and are adamant about educating themselves in order to better their products or services for their clients. (YOU!)
Whether it's a wedding planner that has completed a certification course, a photographer who completed a degree in photography from a university, or a videographer that went to film school - having a professionally trained vendor or a vendor that focuses on continuing education will only greater benefit you and the services you receive. But as a disclaimer, just because a vendor isn't professionally trained, also does not mean that they will not provided a great service - but it's always just a great question to ask when interviewing them. :)
Regarding your florist or event floral designer - AIFD is one of many organizations established to maintain the highest standards in floral design. Accredited members of AIFD attend activities and educational events that keep designers on the cutting edge of floral and decor trends. If you are still considering a florist for your upcoming wedding, take a look at www.aifd.org and find an accredited florist near you.
"Established in 1965, the American Institute of Floral Designers is, today, the floral industry's leading non-profit organization dedicated to establishing, maintaining and recognizing the highest standard of professional floral design. AIFD and its worldwide accredited members are in the forefront of the industry in presenting educational design programs and in designing flowers for such renowned events as the Tournament of Roses Parade, Academy Awards and Presidential Inaugurations. They are an extraordinary group of talented artists.
Accredited membership in AIFD is extremely selective and can be obtained only after a candidate has effectively demonstrated advanced professional ability of his or her floral artistry. Members proudly wear the "AIFD addendum on their name to demonstrate that their peers have found them to be "Accredited in Floral Design." They must continue to demonstrate their "cutting edge" art by meeting specified continuing education requirements. " - www.aifd.org
We are proud to say that Botanica is a member of the Society of American Florists, the American Institute of Floral Design, Professional Floral Communicators International, the National Diploma of the Society of Floristy, the American Academy of Floristy and The National Association of Catering Executives.

Modern Wedding Etiquette Feature!
Check out Modern Wedding Etiquette for our very own Ian Prosser's post on modern wedding fashion. Where he writes, "Nowadays so many different factors come into play when discussing the "look" of your wedding. At Botanica, it’s not JUST about the flowers – we like to be involved or at least included in all visual aspects of a wedding. At the end of the day, as your team of vendors, it’s our job to work together to create a flawless event not only logistically, but visually as well." Autumn Anticipation
Fall is right around the corner and we cannot wait to see some beautiful wedding hues announcing it's arrival. We love all the rich colors and intriguing textures fall brings to floral decor. Brides that marry later in the year get to take advantage color combination's that are not appropriate any other time. Some of our favorite seasonal flowers are dahlias, crabapple branches, zinnias, callicarpa berries, and liquid amber. Here are some pictures of fall colored bouquets to get you excited!

Wedding Sneak Peek!
Here is a peek from our July 17th wedding! The bridesmaids carried a colorful mixture of orchids, roses, dahlias, hydrangea, and sweet pea. For the reception decor, Ian suggested the addition of sugar cane into the centerpieces to incorporate an element that is special to the Bride's family as they are in the sugar cane industry. In addition, we used lilies, orchids, birds of paradise, and tropical foliage to help round out this beautifully unique design. Enjoy!
